Walt’s Affinity for Scale Models
Walt Disney often appeared on his ABC Disneyland television show displaying models, like this one of the Mark Twain steamboat, as a way to give viewers a glimpse of what he was building.

But Walt’s affinity for models went far deeper than for show. In fact, Walt insisted on models being built as an integral part of the design process for Disneyland. According to Walt “renderings lie, but a scale model does not.” All these years later, scale models remain a key component of Disney’s Imagineering process.
